Terms of Use

• By creating an account or otherwise accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you use the Services on behalf of a child, you do so as the responsible parent or guardian.

• Edukea is intended for learners of all ages, including children. If you are below the age of majority in your country, you may use the Services only with the involvement, permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the Services.
• You agree that the information you provide when registering is accurate and that you will keep it up to date.

• Edukea provides free educational content and tools, including courses, an English learning module, quizzes, reading, listening and speaking practice, and AI-assisted features such as translation, text-to-speech, pronunciation scoring and an AI tutor.
• We may add, change, suspend or remove features, content or the Services at any time to improve them or for operational, legal or security reasons.

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at privacy@edukea.co.tz of any unauthorised use or security breach.
• You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account in the app, at edukea.co.tz/delete-account/, or by emailing us.

You agree not to:

• Use the Services for any unlawful, harmful, deceptive or abusive purpose;
• Post or share content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise objectionable, or that endangers or exploits children;
• Infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of others;
• Attempt to access, disrupt, reverse-engineer or interfere with the Services, their security, or other users' accounts;
• Use bots, scrapers or automated means to extract content, or misuse the AI features to generate prohibited content;
• Reproduce, resell or commercially exploit any part of the Services without our written permission.

• "User Content" means anything you submit or make available through the Services, such as profile details, photos, recordings and messages. You retain ownership of your User Content and grant Edukea a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display it solely to operate and improve the Services.
• You are responsible for your User Content and confirm you have the rights to share it.
• Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. You can report content or users you believe violate these Terms by contacting privacy@edukea.co.tz. We review reports and may remove content, and warn, suspend, block or ban users who violate these Terms, typically within 24 hours of a valid report.

• Some features use artificial intelligence to translate, generate speech, transcribe and score your voice, and answer questions. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable, and is provided for learning support only — it is not professional, legal, medical or financial advice. Please use judgement and verify important information.
• To provide these features, content you submit may be processed by third-party AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy.

• The Services and all content, features and functionality (excluding User Content and openly-licensed third-party materials) are owned by Edukea or its licensors and protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. You may use them for your personal, non-commercial learning only and may not modify, reproduce, distribute or create derivative works without our written permission.

You download our apps from the Apple App Store or Google Play and use third-party services (such as Google and Apple sign-in). Your use of those stores and services is also subject to their terms. Edukea is an independent organisation and is not sponsored by, affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc. or Google LLC.

Additional terms for Apple App Store users. The following apply to the extent you obtained the app from the Apple App Store:

• These Terms are between you and Edukea only, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation for the app; any warranty claims are the responsibility of Edukea.
• Edukea, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal/regulatory and consumer-protection claims, and any third-party claim that the app or your use of it infringes intellectual property rights.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist-supporting", and are not on any U.S. Government prohibited-party list.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

• Edukea is free. The Services do not currently charge fees, sell content or offer in-app purchases or subscriptions. As a non-profit we accept voluntary donations, which are optional and separate from access to the Services. If we ever introduce paid features, we will update these Terms and clearly disclose any charges before you incur them.

• The Services are provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, Edukea disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that content (including AI output) will be accurate or produce particular learning outcomes.

• To the maximum extent permitted by law, Edukea and its volunteers, staff and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Services. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

• We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Services or other users. You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability) will survive.

• If you believe content on the Services infringes your copyright, email privacy@edukea.co.tz with a description of the work, the location of the material, your contact details, and a statement of good-faith belief. We will review and remove infringing material where appropriate.

• Your use of the Services is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect and how we use and protect it.

• These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence are not affected.

• We may modify these Terms from time to time. When changes are material we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
